why not ask your physician for a prescription for perconcets(Sp?). I believe they are the best…they relax your muscles and you feel much better… i had to take those when i was in a car accident

You can’t do much for Fibro with OTC meds. And you really need medical supervision if you are going to treat it with anything longterm. If your primary care doctor doesn’t want to treat you then she/he should refer you to a Rheumatologist. There are effective treatments available but, it might take some work to find the right ones.

Well if you have been diagnosed by a physician with fibromyalgia then i would ask about lyrica. it is the newest treatment out. i also hear that a high protein diet helps. as far as over the counter there is acetaminophen (do not take more than 4000mg a day) and ibuprofen. that is about as good as it gets!

Strongest does not necessarily mean the most effective.

You have a problem that is hard to treat. The best bet would be to buy small bottles of asprin, motrin, aleve, and etc. Then try them out one at a time to see which one helps YOU the best. If none of them seem to help much, try taking a 1/2 dose of one and 1/2 dose of another. Sometimes a combination works better than just one. Keep a chart of all this so you will know what helps and what does not.

You might also try hot wraps, ice packs, Bengay and other ointments or even a cold shower.

AFTER you have gone through all the over the counter medications, talk to your doctor about a prescription drug.
You might also consider a TENS unit if your pain is localized. They cost about $60 bucks and actually do help some people.

This a strange disease that most people get lumped into because doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong with them. I’d say stop faking your symptons and you’ll get better you hypochondriac.

You should stay away from chronic use of OTC anti-inflammatory drugs like advil or ibuprofen and go with supplements that can help correct the problem.

5-hydroxytryptophan (5HTP) is available at most vitamin shops and has been shown to decrease pain, improve sleep, reduce tender points, relieve morning stiffness, help with anxiety and improve mood including clinical depression and also increases energy.

S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) and L-theanine are other natural products that can help with long term management of fibromyalgia. More details at the reference below.

First of all Fibromyalgia is a real disorder! Over the counter meds really don’t help, in the long term, anti-inflammatory meds might help a little but not for long. I would talk to your doctor either your family doctor or a rhuematoligist (sp?) about a pain protocol. Some of the things that have been helpful for me have been, cymbalta, medicines that help me sleep, occasional pain medications, and supplements such as b-12, 5HTP, Corvalen (d-ribose). Do some research on the internet, there is tons of info out there! Good Luck to you!

All these " new " diseases today.. All you need is for some one to give you a good smack in the head and tell you to stop that..
