I have fibromyalgia and my doctor changed my medication from Prozac to this new medicine made for patients with fibromyalgia called Savella. Ive been taking the new medicine for like 5 weeks now. In the last 2 weeks Ive been dealing with problems with my daughters school and my husband and his new business and a 20 year old son that has no clue what he wants to do with his life. Ive been very agitated and annoyed. But in the last few days Ive been super agitated and very nervous stressed out. I been yelling at the kids and the husband and the dogs. I never really put 2 and 2 together til my girl friend said what my family is doing is nothing they don’t usually do, but my reaction is different. She thought maybe its the new medicine.
So I called the doctor today and a PA called me back and told me well go see the doctor on Monday or go to the ER if i think its bad!! =S I said well could I just stop taking the new medicine?? He said I cant recommend doing this. Just go see the doctor cause I don’t know you!!!
I’m at the point where I don’t know if I want to pack my shit and leave the house or what!! I’m just angry and agitated.
What should I do? Stop taking the medicine?? Or Should I wait to see the doctor? Or should I just go to the hotel til I can see the doctor on Monday to save my family from my tantrums?

1savellais an SNRI
prozac is an SSRI
Savella is not taht much different from earlier SNRIs–its just a marketign gmic to try to make oney off FMS
you will wantto taper off teh Savella—do teh revers of when you started it–decrease teh dose a little each week–
going cold turkey can cause a migraine and make youmore agitated..and than it will take a few weeks to clear formyour system

5No, don’t just stop taking the meds. Going cold turkey off of that stuff can cause all sorts of nasty problems. You’ll need to taper down. You’re really supposed to do it with a doctor’s help, but if you can’t wait until Monday, then go ahead and start now. Only reduce your dose by a small amount, and see if it helps. If you aren’t on a dose schedule that allows you to taper slowly, go to the pharmacy and pick up a pill splitter. Even tapering down a tiny amount could help a lot.
If your husband and/or son are overall supportive, let them know that you think that your medicine is making you really irritable and prone to anger. Just letting the people in your life know what’s going on can sometimes help a lot with these drug-induced emotional weirdnesses.
And when you see your doctor on Monday, don’t let him foist you off with that old "just give it more time" line. After five weeks, chances are it’s not going to get better, and emotional side-effects like the ones you’re describing really just aren’t livable. Doctors love to prescribe the latest new hot medicine that all the pharmaceutical companies have been touting, but just because they’re new doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better.
SNRIs are not for everyone. You may not react well to the norepinephrine (which is linked to aggression). SSRIs like Prozac just mess with your seratonin, but leave your norepinephrine alone. If the prozac was working well for you, tell your doctor you’d prefer to go back to it.
