FMS is probably a disorder of the central nervous system…with musculoskeletal symptoms…….there is no swelling/inflammation–although some people report a sensation of swelling….if you have actual inflammation either you are misdiagnosed or have a combination of conditions–for example–i also have bursitis…..
i believe it is highly overdiagnosed–and not as common as reported–it has been my experience that many doctors diagnose pain of other conditions as fibromyalgia-automatically–without thoroughly screening to assess if the 2nd condition really exist–they also use teh term fibromyalgia to describe normal pain from an aggressive lifestyle–wilingly only sleeping 5 hours a night–and willfully engaging in over strenuous activities–if you really had fm–you couldn’t do that..
at the same time–there are people that truely have FM that can’t get a diagnosis because of all teh docs handing out the fm diagnosis like candy….
people that are miraculously cured probably never had real fm
while it is true that a good diet can take the edge off the condition—-following a diet plan (including/excluding specific foods)endorsed by a book or through other commercial means is unlikely to help real fm
real fm is not autoimmune, not arthritis, not a vitamin deficiency, not thick body fluids, not body acid, there is no such thing as liver fibromyalgia–there is liver disease that can cause pain and fatigue=but that is different.
it is beleived to be triggered by an emotional or physical trauma–you need to be predisposed to developing it–just like you may be predisposed to heart disease through your genes..
Fibromyalgia syndrome is a fairly common, chronic illness which causes the sufferer to have extreme muscle pain and fatigue. Usually sufferers feel pain in their shoulders, neck, hips and their back whenever slight pressure is applied. The condition has been compared to arthritis due to the pain involved but it is not truly an arthritic problem as it does not cause inflammation or damage to the joints in any way.
People who do live with Fibromyalgia syndrome tend to find that they often cannot carry on with their daily lives as normal. It does restrict them in various ways and it is mainly considered to be a rheumatic problem. Other symptoms which sufferers may experience include morning stiffness, a sensitive temperature, irritable bowel syndrome and headaches to name but a few. So, if you do suffer from this syndrome it is definitely a very painful one and the cause of the condition is currently unknown.
According to my information regarding fibromyalgia one should avoid the nightshade vegetable and fruits:
1. eggplant
2. tomatoes
3. potatoes (except for yams)
4. peppers of all types (bell peppers, orange, red and jalapeno
I am studying this due to my doctors thought I had Lupus which is in the same family, so therefore I have to avoid the above list as well.
Hope this is helpful. You might want to purchase the book called:
The Fibromyalgia Solution by: David Dryland, MD with Lorie List. It’s a wonderful book to read.
